OUR PHILOSOPHY OF DEVELOPMENT AND FLOURISHMENT

At TCP we believe that the best sort of development is that which leads to holistic flourishing in a student’s life. As a result, we take a total-person approach to child development - focusing on the four fundamental relationships every person has:

     1. Relationship to the Creator (Spiritual Development)

We believe the most important relationship that a person can obtain and develop is their relationship to the One, True God. We come to know God through His Holy, Inspired Word, the Bible, which tells us that our relationship with God first starts with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We target this area of development through gospel-centered, biblical instruction.

      2. Relationship to Others (Social Development)

Because every human is made in the image of God, they are imbued with value and dignity. Their worth is not dependent upon their appearance, abilities, or aptitude. As image-bearers they are to be treated with love and respect. We target this area of development through careful maintenance of classroom culture, that teaches students to care for their fellow students. We lovingly correct when a student does not watch what they are saying, and actively encourage students to find productive ways to handle disagreement or conflicts.

     3. Relationship to the Created Order (Academic Development)

Because we believe God created the world, we believe that it has order and structure and can be pursued academically and actually known. We target this area of development through intentional focus on reading and writing skills, as well as arithmetic. We actively stay abreast of the developmental expectations for the schools in our county to ensure that students who enroll at TCP are advantaged by their being a part of our program.

     4. Relationship to Self (Emotional Development)

Because we are created as persons, we naturally possess awareness of self. We target this area of development by equipping our students with biblical wisdom to help them navigate their internal emotional states. We recognize that a student’s mood can be affected by physical and even chemical processes. We do not offer psychological therapy for our students, but we do maintain a list of several licensed and certified psychologists and therapists within our area, to which we refer the parents of our students if they so request.
